des BAREL is actively working. In addition to undergraduate education in the Department, educational activities
are carried out in master’s and PhD programs within the ERU Institute of Health Sciences.

The Department of Veterinary Public Health, affiliated to the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology, start-
ed to operate in 2012-2013. However, the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology and the Department of
Veterinary Public Health have been combined under the name of Veterinary Public Health as a single Department
since 2018. A total of 41 graduate students, 39 of them from the Master’s programs and 2 from the PhD programs,
have graduated from the Institute of Health Sciences of our university. In total, 88 master’s and 85 PhD courses
are given, and the theoretical and practical hours of these courses are given as 206 hours of theory and 72 hours of
practice for master’s degrees, and 206 hours of theory and 44 hours of practice for doctorate.
In the laboratory of the Department of Veterinary Public Health (Binocular research microscope, – 20 C deep
freezer, Refrigerator, - 80 C deep freezer, Milk analyzer, Bacteriological oven, Shaker oven, Vortex, Spin Vortex,
Magnetic mixer, pH meter, Macfarland Densitometer, ELISA device, Western Blot device, Electrophoresis power
supply, ELISA Reader and Automatic Washing System / Thermo, Spectrophotometer, Biosafety Cabinet, Fully
equipped sterile cabinet, Biosafety Cabinet, Spectrophotometer, Nano-drop spectrophotometer, Single module
PCR device, Horizontal electrophoresis Tank, Electrophoresis power supply, Computer aided fully equipped gel
documentation and imaging system, Thermalcycler device/Thermo, Dual module, Gradient adjusted Thermalcy-
cler/Thermo Heated dry block incubator, Shaker/Thermo, Real Time PCR, Microwave oven, Water bath, Precision
balance, Ultra Centrifuge, Shaker, Qubit® 3.0 Fluorometer/Life Technologies, Autoclave, Dry air sterilizer, Milli-
pore e Distilled Water Device).

In the department, 79 scientific publications and 5 book-book chapters have contributed to the scientific literature
until 2021. In addition to 28 projects in the Department, 64 BAP and 5 TUBITAK projects have been carried out
so far.
