Erciyes University Department of Veterinary Genetics began to shape its academic staff with the appointment of
Bilal AKYÜZ in 2007 and Korhan ARSLAN as assistant professor in 2008. Esma Gamze AKSEL in 2012 and
Fadime DALDABAN in 2016 were appointed as research assistants to the academic staff of the Department of
Genetics. In the department of genetics between 2015-2021, MD. Mahmodul Hasan SOHEL worked as an assis-
tant professor. Currently, in the department, there is a professor, an associate professor and two doctoral research
assistants.
In undergraduate education, a Genetics lesson and medical biology lesson are given by the Department. In addi-
tion, the Standardization lesson is given in the certificate program named Experimental Animals and Application
Methods.

Until 2021, 25 master’s and 7 doctoral students have completed their postgraduate education in the department.
Department of Genetics carries out Animal Science and multidisciplinary Veterinary Genetics and Biotechnology
master and doctorate programs at the Institute of Health Sciences of Erciyes University. In addition, it contributes
to the Animal Science-Animal Nutrition and Sustainable Livestock doctorate programs opened within the scope
of YÖK 100/2000 priority area.
Researches on molecular breeding, immunogenetics, hereditary diseases and clinical genetics are carried out in the
department. In the Laboratory of the Department, there is the basic equipment to carry out these researches.

Until 2021, the department has been completed 52 SCI manuscripts, 40 BAP and 9 TÜBİTAK projects. In ad-
dition, the department has been completed 62 manuscripts in refereed congress/symposium proceedings and 31
manuscripts in other journals. Department of Genetics hosted one national congress.
