In the department, Animal Nutrition and Nutritional Diseases master’s and doctoral programs affiliated to Erciyes
University Institute of Health Sciences, YÖK 100/2000 priority area doctoral program (Sustainable Animal Hus-
bandry) are carried out. There are 21 masters and 5 doctoral students studying in the department.

In the laboratory of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Nutritional Diseases; gas chromotography device,
methane emission device, MUN device, nitrogen-protein analyzer, dietary fiber extractor, UV-VIS spectropho-
tometer, fat extraction device, NDF-ADF analyzer, autoclave, microcentrifuge, water bany, thermostatic control
cabinet and distilled water device exists.

We have protocols with Saray Carpet Farm (Develi/Kayseri), Kayseri Yem A.Ş (Kocasinan/Kayseri) and Erciyes
University Agricultural Research and Application Center Farm for extra-mural undergraduate education.

Raw nutrient analysis of feeds (raw protein, crude fat, raw cellulose, raw ash, dry matter), structural carbohydrate
analysis (NDF, ADF, ADL), carotenoid, beta-glucan, starch, resistant-non-resistant starch, dietary fiber (soluble-in-
soluble) silage and ammonia analysis in the rumen are performed.

In vitro gas production techniques, and in vitro methane emission such as in vitro methods are studied. Until 2021,
88 SCI publications, 58 BAP, and 8 TÜBİTAK projects have been completed in the department.
