The Department of Microbiology started its activities in the fields of education, training, research and routine anal-
ysis in 1995 with the appointment of Prof. Dr. Nejat AYDIN, the first and founding dean of the faculty. Then, Prof.
Dr. Kadir Semih GÜMÜŞSOY, Prof. Dr. Fuat AYDIN and Prof. Dr. Seçil ABAY was appointed to the department,
respectively. Today, 3 professors (Prof. Dr. Fuat AYDIN, Prof. Dr. Kadir Semih GÜMÜŞSOY and Prof. Dr. Seçil
ABAY) and 1 Research Assistant Dr. (Research Assistant Dr. Emre KARAKAYA) study in the department, Prof. Dr.
Fuat AYDIN is the head of the department.

In undergraduate education, Microbiology I, Immunology, Microbiology II, Poultry Diseases and Epidemiology
courses are given by the Department. In addition, it also contributes to the teaching of Preventive Veterinary Med-
icine, which is given as a multidisciplinary course. In the department, Veterinary Microbiology master degree/PhD
programs affiliated to Erciyes University, Institute of Health Sciences and CoHE 100/2000 priority field doctorate
program (Immunology of Veterinary Infectious Diseases) are carried out.
