Department of Veterinary Medicine History and Deontology

Assoc. Prof. Çağrı Çağlar SİNMEZ Res. Asst. Ali İlteriş AYKUN

The Department of History of Veterinary Medicine and Deontology started its activities in 1995 for education,
training and research. In this process, Prof. Dr. Ferruh DİNÇER from outside the university was assigned to give
the courses of the Department. In the following process, Assist. Prof. Dr. Rahşan ÖZTÜRK ÖZEN (2002-2007),
Research Assistant Erhan YÜKSEL (2007-2013), Associate Prof. Dr. Çağrı Çağlar SINMEZ (2013-continuing) and
Research Assistant Ali İlteriş AYKUN (2021-continuing) were assigned to the staff of the Department, respectively.

The staffs of the Department contribute to the continuation of advanced research and development activities in
undergraduate and postgraduate fields such as animal welfare, professional ethics, research and publication ethics,
deontology, veterinary legislation, ethno veterinary medicine, animal rights and law, animal welfare, professional
communication, career planning, and history of veterinary medicine. In addition, being a permanent member of
the Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee, members has been performed active duties in faculty boards and
commissions, student societies and organizations, and the pozitivet bulletin. The staff of Department has complet-
ed 9 articles published in SCI-E indexed journals, 18 articles published in national and international journals, 43
papers presented in national and international congresses, 6 book chapters published by national and international
publishers, 4 BAP and 1 TUBITAK project until 2021.
Undergraduate courses given by the Department; History of Veterinary Medicine (Compulsory, 1st Term), History
of Veterinary Medicine, Professional Ethics and Veterinary Legislation (Compulsory, 1st Term), Animal Rights
(Elective/Pool, 1st Term), Animal Behavior and Animal Welfare (Compulsory, 2nd Term), Career Planning (Com-
pulsory, 2nd Term), Clinical Skills Laboratory (Compulsory, 4th Term), Professional Communication (Compulso-
ry, 9th Term) and Veterinary Internship Training (VHİE, Compulsory, 10th Term).
