Department of Biochemistry

Prof. Dr. Meryem EREN Asst. Prof. Meryem ŞENTÜRK

Department of Biochemistry was established in 1995
by Prof. Dr. Fatma UYANIK and Prof. Dr. Meryem
EREN; started its activities in the fields of education,
training, research and routine analysis. In 2007, As-
sist. Prof. Dr. Meryem SENTÜRK was appointed to
the Department. In undergraduate education, Medical
Chemistry, Biochemistry I and Biochemistry II courses
are given by the department.
Veterinary Biochemistry master’s and doctorate programs are carried out in the Institute of Health Sciences of
Erciyes University. Until 2021, 9 master’s and 3 doctoral students completed their postgraduate education in the
department. Ten master’s and 2 doctoral students continue their education.

In the Department of Biochemistry, researches are carried out on basic subjects such as metabolism and metabolism
diseases, nutrition and clinical biochemistry, oxidative stress, and cell culture. There are basic equipment (ELISA
equipment, spectrophotometer, homogenizer, sonicator, refrigerated centrifuge, invert microscope, CO2 oven,
etc.) in the Laboratory of the Department..

Until 2021, 41 SCI/SCI-EXP publications, 11 International and 24 national publications, and 33 BAP and 2
TUBITAK projects have been completed in the department.
Faculty members of the Department of Biochemistry attended 28 national and 19 international congresses.
