2. ACADEMIC UNITS AND STAFF
At the meeting of the ERU Senate on 02.12.1994, established in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were decided
and presented to the Higher Education Council (YÖK). With the approval letter of the Council of Higher Educa-
tion dated 04.01.1995, ERÜVF was accepted in the 1995-1996 academic year. And faculty started its education
as a 3 division Basic Veterinary Sciences (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Histology-Embryology, History of
Veterinary Medicine and Deontology), Preclinical sciences (Microbiology, Parasitology, Internal Medicine, Phar-
macology). -Toxicology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Artificial Insemination, Surgery, Pathology, Virology, Food
Hygiene and Technology) and Animal Science and Animal Nutrition (Zootechnics, Livestock Business Economics,
Genetics, Biometrics, Animal Nutrition and Nutrition Diseases). In the following process (Preclinical Sciences,
Food Hygiene and Technology) and four more departments were established within the Faculty. Of these, the pro-
posal regarding the opening of the Department of Fisheries and Diseases was examined at the Higher Education
Executive Board meeting dated 29/03/2012 and approved in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547
amended with the Law No. 2880.
The Department of Veterinary Public Health was established on 29.08.2012 and started to operate under the Food
Hygiene and Technology Department in the 2012-2013 academic year. 8. Laboratory Animal Science Department
was established on 04.07.2013 within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and is the first department in its field
to be established within the faculty. The latest Department Wild Animal Diseases was established in the faculty in
accordance with the letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 04/05/2021 and numbered 33004.
As of the 2020-2021 academic year, the faculty continues its educational activities with a total of 82 academic staff,
including 39 professors, 14 associate professors, 13 doctoral faculty members, 16 research assistants and 1 lecturer
in five departments and twenty-four departments. ERÜVF ranks 11th among veterinary faculties in Turkey in
terms of the number of teaching staff and constitutes 4% of the current number of teaching staff (n=1958).
