1. HISTORY

The establishment process of Erciyes University (ERU) started with Gevher Nesibe Faculty of Medicine in 1968,
continued with Kayseri Faculty of Business Administration (1977), and was completed under the name of Kayseri
University with the Law No. 2175 dated 07.11.1978. Kayseri University took the name Erciyes University in 1982
by incorporating the Kayseri Higher Islamic Institute, which was first established in 1967, under the name of Fac-
ulty of Theology, and then the Kayseri State Architecture and Engineering Academy, which was founded in 1977,
under the name of Faculty of Engineering.
ERU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (ERU) was established with the Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992. As the
founding dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Nejat AYDIN was appointed (1995-2001). In the following periods, the
dean duties were carried out by Prof. Dr. Tayfur BEKYÜREK (2001-2004 and 2007-2010), Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı
NUR (07.09.2004-07.09.2007), Prof. Dr. Halit CANATAN (by proxy 28.03.2011-06.09.2013) and Prof. Dr.
İhsan KELEŞ (09.09.2013-15.11.2017). Since 16.11.2017, he has been serving as the dean of Prof. Dr. Abdullah
İNCİ conducts.
ERÜVF started in 1992 in the classroom in the ERU rectorate building and continued for many years in the old
Architecture-Engineering Faculty building on the Sümer Campus. ERÜVF, whose construction was completed by
Tes-İş Union, moved to its new service building in the Central Campus in 2011 and still continues its academic
activities in this building.
