Department of Laboratory Animal Science

Asst. Prof. Gonca KAMACI ÖZOCAK

Laboratory Animal Science Department was established within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the ap-
proval letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 04.07.2013 and numbered 4825-35960. It is the first
department in its field established within the faculty.
Educational activities started in 2014 with Prof. Dr. Latife Çakır Bayram who is faculty member of Department
of Pathology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Davut Bayram who is faculty member of Department of Animal Science. The
research and laboratory studies started as well as educational activities with Asst. Prof. Dr. Gonca KAMACI ÖZO-
CAK appointed in 2017.

In undergraduate education, Laboratory Animal Breeding and Laboratory Animal Diseases courses are given by
the Department.

The Department contributes to the graduate and doctorate programs of Erciyes University Health Sciences Insti-
tute, Department of Veterinary Anatomy, in lectures and student advisor. 26 courses are given for graduate students.
In the Laboratory Animal Science Department, the basics of research activities are carried out on the welfare and
health of laboratory animals, the care and nutrition of laboratory animals, animal models and experimental surgery.

Until 2021, 11 SCI publications, 4 BAP, 2 TÜBİTAK, 1 Ministry of Development projects have been completed
in the Department.
