In undergraduate education, Parasitology (5 theoretical, 5 practical), Bee Diseases (1 theoretical, 2 practical), and
intern lectures (12 theoretical, 8 practical) are given. Practical lectures are given both in the laboratory and in the
field (slaughterhouses and farms). In the graduate education, 50 master (96 theoretical, 34 practical) and 66 doc-
toral (131 theoretical, 32 practical) lectures are given.
There are PhD and master’s degree programs for our department in the Institute of Health Sciences of Erciyes Uni-
versity. These programs are currently carried out with the participation of 5 Faculty Members (3 Professors and 2
Associate Professors) in the Department and 1 Assoc. Prof. assigned from the Department of Preclinical Sciences.
In addition, the Institute of Health Sciences Medical Parasitology (Faculty of Medicine) program is actively carried
out by the members of our department.

The Parasitology Department has a total of 44 graduate student including 31 from master program and 13 from
PhD program. Currently, there are 12 and 15 students in master’s degree and PhD programs, respectively. Three
of the current PhD students also continue their education in the CoHE 100/2000 program.

A total of 46 thesis projects in our department, 1 The 6th EU Research Framework Programme Project (MED-
LABAB), 11 TUBITAK, 1 State Planning Organization Project and 28 Scientific Research Projects (supported by
Erciyes University) were carried out in the department. Furthermore, 10 Scientific Research Projects supported by
Erciyes University, 1 TUBITAK 1001 project, 1 TUBITAK 1002 project, 1 TUBITAK International Cooperation
(Tunisia) project and 1 USA DTRA Project are currently carried out in the department.

There are 4 good equipped laboratories with the advanced technological infrastructure in the department: Protozo-
ology and Molecular Parasitology, Helminthology and Serology, Entomology, and Insectarium.

To date, 82 and 96 articles were published in the SCI-E indexed and the other international and national journals
in the Department of Parasitology, respectively.

The Department of Parasitology and ERU Vectors and Vector-Borne Diseases Implementation and Research Center
were organized 2 international and 1 national scientific congresses, 5 conference, 1 symposium, and 1 workshop.
