Department of Virology

(About Department)

The Department of Virology carries out scientific studies and educational activities with 3 faculty members and 1 research assistant. There are viral diagnostic and research laboratories.

There are Molecular Virology Laboratory and Cell Culture Laboratory at the department. In our laboratories, the diagnosis of viral diseases, isolation, identification and characterization of viruses, pathogenesis and immunological responses as well as research and development studies in the application and development of new technologies and development of inactivated and recombinant vaccines are being carried out.

Theoretical and practical Virology I and Virology II courses for undergraduate students are given by the faculty members of the department. Our department offers Veterinary Virology Master’s Program for the graduate students at the Graduate School of Health Sciences. In addition, the faculty members of the department teach in the Veterinary Microbiology Master’s and PhD programs.
