HISTORY
The proposal regarding the opening of the Department of Aquatic Animal Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was evaluated at the meeting of the Council of Higher Education dated 29/03/2012 and it was approved under the Article 7/d-2 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880. While there were two faculty members at the Department in 2012, now there are three academic staff members and one research assistant as a result of academic promotion and new appointments.
MISSION
- to train veterinarians who are experienced in aquaculture, diagnosis and treatment of fish diseases and preventive medicine and to enable them to enter the aquaculture sector which is showing rapid development in our country and the world,
- to get the zoonoses caused by aquaculture threatening especially public health and some diseases causing serious economic losses under control and to contribute to the protection control programs that may be formed on these matters in our country.
VISION
Our vision is to become a center of attraction in the aquaculture sector by handling diseases or problems that threaten human health and cause serious economic losses and with the scientific projects that are carried out by following the latest technological developments.
