10.6. Preventive Medicine and Conscious Livestock Club

Preventive Medicine and Conscious Livestock Club was founded on 10 March 2020 by Hüseyin VURĞUN under
the supervision of Prof. Dr. İhsan KELEŞ. The presidency of the club has been maintained by Muhammet Mustafa
DERSİNLİOĞLU since 18 November 2021. The aims of the club; When we decided to establish this club, we felt
that we were isolated from the field conditions, the farmers and the language of the farmers.

In order not to be a stranger in the field after graduation, we aim to have the opportunity to go to the field as much
as possible with the theoretical courses we have taken during the education process and to experience the current
diseases, current problems in the field, to see the current treatment and preventive measures. At the same time, as
the veterinarians of the future, we aim to organize various activities where students and growers can come together
in order to contribute to the livestock of the country and to transfer the necessary protective measures to our farm-
ers and growers up-to-date and to contribute to more conscious, healthy and more efficient production. Preventive
medicine is undoubtedly gaining great importance today. Preventive medicine, which will constitute a large part
of our profession in the future, is encountered in various working areas of veterinarians (cattle and ovine medicine,
pet animal medicine, animal product production, etc.) and we have a serious responsibility towards public health
as in every field.
For this purpose, we aim to organize various trainings in order to learn and teach the current preventive medicine
measures in every field where we find a field of study since our education life.

Our main goal will be to be present in the field sufficiently, to find the opportunity to apply, to learn the expec-
tations of the field growers, to become conscious while learning, to raise awareness and to learn and teach current
preventive medicine practices in every field.
As a club, our activities are to organize activities such as milk and fattening farm visits, cat and dog shelter visits,
horse cross visits, village visits, producer awareness activities, seminar studies within the scope of faculty students
within the framework of club objectives, vision and missions of the faculty students and to carry out activities to be
beneficial to students, producers and Turkish people.

As the Preventive Medicine and Conscious Livestock Club, a trip was organized to Saray Farm in Develi district
of Kayseri province on November 27, 2021 under the consultancy of Prof. Dr. İhsan KELEŞ. The students who
participated in the event during the farm tour were accompanied by the farm manager Vet. Hekim Sabahattin
KÖKNUR and gave lectures to our students both theoretically and practically.
