11.1. Commemoration of National Poet Mehmet Akif ERSOY

On December 27, 2012, our National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy was commemorated with a program organized by
ERÜVF. A large number of academicians and students attended the commemoration program held at the Confer-
ence Hall of Türkan-Tuncer Hasçalık School of Tourism and Hotel Management. Following the moment of silence
and the National Anthem, the commemoration program was held by ERU Faculty of Theology Faculty Member
Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÜNAL and ERÜVF Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağrı Çağlar SİNMEZ’s “76th anniversary
of his death. The year ended with the conference on “The Literary and Professional Personality of National Poet and
Veterinarian Mehmet Akif ERSOY”.

On December 30, 2013, at the commemoration event organized by the ERÜVF Dean’s Office at the Sabanci
Cultural Site, our national poet and professional elder Mehmet Akif Ersoy was commemorated. Sabanci Culture
Site Mehmet Akif ERSOY’s speech titled “Dedem Mehmet Akif” within the scope of the commemoration week
Mehmet Selma ARGON, the granddaughter of Akif ERSOY, and ERU with her speech titled “Mehmet Akif Ersoy
in Literary Aspects”. Faculty of Letters Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Mustafa ARGUNŞAH made speeches. The con-
ference was attended by many academicians and students.

On December 29, 2014, our national poet and colleague Mehmet Akif Ersoy was commemorated with the con-
ference organized by the ERÜVF Dean’s Office. While Dr. Yakup ÖMEROĞLU, the President of the Eurasian
Writers Union, participated in the program held at Sabanci Cultural Site as a speaker, Erciyes University Rector
Prof. Dr. H. Fahrettin KELEŞTEMUR, ERÜVF Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan KELEŞ, many academicians and students
were also present in the hall. After the speeches, the program ended with poetry recitals and foreign students singing
the National Anthem.
On December 28, 2015, the Dean’s Office of ERÜVF organized a commemorative program on the occasion of the
79th anniversary of the death of Mehmet Akif Ersoy. In the program organized at ERU Sabanci Cultural Center,
Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s theater play about the process of writing the National Anthem was staged and Dr. Lütfü ŞEH-
SUVAROĞLU gave a lecture on “Asım’s Generation and the Cage”. Prof. Dr. İhsan KELEŞ, Dean of the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, presented Şehsuvaroğlu with a plaque for his contribution to the program. ERU Vice Rector
Prof. Dr. Abdülhakim COŞKUN, academicians and students attended the event.
