                     10.2. The International Veterinary Student’s Association (IVSA)


            The International Veterinary Student’s Association (IVSA) Student Club, which was established in 2017 as a sub-
            unit of the club established under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Öznur ASLAN and under the presidency of Turan
            KARGI, is an ongoing student community with the voluntary participation of students at Erciyes University Facul-
            ty of Veterinary Medicine. IVSA (International Veterinary Students’ Association) was first established in Denmark
            in 1951 as an international student body. Since its establishment, domestic and international meetings have been
            held with the active participation of students and international student exchanges have been carried out.
            On December 12, 2018, Nuri Savruk concert was held at Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Meh-
            met Akif Ersoy Conference Hall.

            At the “Workshop on Behavior and Welfare in Pets” held between 7-10 March 2019: “It Can’t Always Be Black
            or White! The Relationship of Behavioral Science with Other Fields, Cognitive Dysfunctions in Dogs, My Hair Is
            Falling Out! Psychogenic Alopecia, Compulsive Disorders in Pets and Their Treatments, Backgrounds of Equine
            Behavior to Improve Clinical Behavior, Stress-Free Intervention Methods and Principles of Behavioral Modifi-
            cation in Horses, Chronic Stress and Pain Assessment in Horses and Donkeys, Stress-Free Clinic, Non-Medical
            Treatment of Behavioral Disorders, Behavior Problems in Caged Birds, Tips for Understanding Cats and Dogs,
            Animal Welfare in Cats and Dogs, Dog Owners with Limited Time  Quality Time Methods, Behavioral Problems
            in Animals with Sensory Disabilities, Emotional and Cognitive Worlds of Animals” were discussed and workshops
            were held with 4 international and 160 national participants.
            In addition, in line with the request of the participants, “Behavioral Consultations in Cats and Dogs” and “Horses’

            Practical trainings titled “Application in Behavior” were given. At the end of the scientific event, the workshop was
            concluded with the Erciyes Mountain Social Program organized with the contributions of Kayseri Metropolitan
            Municipality.

            Within the scope of the student exchange program carried out in order to raise the general standards of medical
            education with various cultural activities on the international platform of veterinary medicine students’ education,
            and to enable students to receive education in important subjects such as animal care and welfare, environmental
            sciences and technical undergraduate education in addition to traditional veterinary medicine education; Wroclaw
            University of Environmental and Life Sciences The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Poland) from 27 April to 5
            May 2019 and Banat University from 26 February to 6 March 2019
            Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Timisoara, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

            Students from (Romania) were hosted and our club students were hosted at Banat on 17-29 October 2019 .

            On 18.11.2019, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Students Science, Culture and Art Club/IVSA-Kayseri commu-
            nity organized the seminar given by Veterinarian Murat VURUCU on “Basic echocardiography in cats and dogs”.

            On 5-7 March 2020, the “Workshop on Obstetrics and Gynecology Care of Childbirth” was held in cooperation
            with the Veterinary and Gynecology Association of Turkey and in the workshop, issues such as better recognition,
            observation and improvement of welfare levels of animals before, during and after birth were discussed. The work-
            shop was held at Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall.
            The community brings students together with annual task distributions and meetings where plans are made, and
            the functioning of the community continues with the decisions taken in line with the students’ own thoughts and
            wishes.
