Department of Laboratory Animal Science

(About Department)

The department which was founded on 04.07.2013 within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has the characteristic of being the first department established within its own field at the faculty. It will support researchers and scientific studies with the infrastructure that is being established.

Mission

By taking the animal rights into consideration and based on the criteria of the National Institute of Health (NIH) (Principles of Laboratory Animal Care) and “Regulation on the Welfare and Protection of Animals Used for Experimental and Other Scientific Purposes” of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, the department provides services for undergraduate/graduate students and researchers regarding laboratory animal breeding, care and housing and experimental application methods.

Vision

To ensure that veterinarian candidates who study at the undergraduate level will graduate with experience and knowledge regarding experimental animals.

To provide new opportunities for students and researchers by improving educational services, infrastructure and technical support.
