MESSAGE FROM FOUNDING

MINISTER

During the period when I was serving as the Minister
of National Education in the Council of Ministers of
the 49th Republic Government, of which Mr. Süley-
man DEMİREL was the Prime Minister, some
faculties were established, including the Faculty of Vet-
erinary Medicine at Erciyes University. In this context,
Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was
established with the Law No. 2809 on the Amend-
ment of the Decree-Law No. 41 on the Organization
of Higher Education Institutions, dated
03.07.1992 and numbered 3837, and the Law on
Amending the Decree Law No. 78 and 190 (11 July
1992 and Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey
numbered 21281).
ERU, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which was le-
gally established with this amendment of law, in accordance with the Development Plans and Development Strat-
egies, which have been prepared and put into effect in line with the needs of our country and will be implemented
in a similar way in all future times, in the Modern and Contemporary sense, aiming to train internationally com-
petitive Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) who can define and diagnose problems correctly, and who can
produce solutions using modern knowledge and methods by facing of the problems. On the other hand, the animal
population of the Kayseri region and the industry based on animal husbandry were also evaluated as an important
dynamic in the establishment of ERU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
As a matter of fact, I have recently observed that ERU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where I was invited as a
speaker on the anniversary of the death of our National Poet, DVM MEHMET AKIF ERSOY, and where I had
the opportunity to examine on-site, made very rapid and very positive developments in all aspects. My observations
made me very happy. In particular, I found the very impressive of the energies and dynamics of academicians who
follows every development in the world very closely in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. At this point, I have re-
alized that the future of Veterinary Medicine Education in Turkey is very promising. I fully believe that the Faculty
of Veterinary Medicine, working in coordination with the administrative staff of Erciyes University, will be always
successful. I congratulate everyone who has contributed to this belief..
