Department of Genetics

(About Department)

Our department consists of 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 1Assistant Professor and 2 Research Assistants.

Vision

The department aims to investigate the possibilities of using the obtained information for solving the problems encountered in our country in the field of animal husbandry by carrying out studies for the breeding of our available livestock with the help of current molecular genetic methods. It is also aimed to train veterinarians who have the ability to solve the problems they will face by using the universal knowledge they have in the field of genetics by means of up-to-date knowledge that will be obtained from existing information and researches.

Mission

The establishment of DNA and tissue banks of indigenous livestock species,

Identification of hereditary diseases in farm animals,

Molecular breeding studies in farm animals,

Informing the public about the protection of our genetic resources,

Training staff in the field of animal genetics and biotechnology,

Forming a partnership with scientists working in similar fields both at home and abroad and producing up-to-date data on a global scale.

10 students in total, including 8 Master’s Degree and 2 PhD students, continue their graduate education in our department.
