DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY BIOMETRICS

The Department of Biometry was established in 1995 affiliated to the Department of Animal Science and Animal Nutrition in order to enable the undergraduate students to have statistical knowledge and skills. The department is in charge of Biostatistics courses primarily for the students of Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and also for the students of the Graduate School of Health Science and the students of other faculties and schools. In addition, Biostatistics courses are also given within the scope of Master’s and PhD programs. Besides educational activities, the department provides bio-statistical consulting service for researchers both from Erciyes University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and from outside the faculty or the university.

There is a laboratory for practices in our department. There is one lecturer in our department.

Our vision:

  • By participating in the research activities at our faculty, to enable our faculty to take part among the leading faculties in Türkiye and in the international arena,
  • to maintain the leadership position of our department as a reference center in biostatistics and researches in Türkiye.

Our mission:

  • to teach veterinary medicine students bio-statistical methods, without memorizing, at a conceptual level and to enable them to be able to make statistical plannings and analyses through their skills in basic subjects and to comprehend and interpret the bio-statistical analyses,
  • to train veterinarians who can produce knowledge on their own and who can compete in international arena, 
  • to enable our students to have qualifications at international standards after graduation,
  • to contribute to the design, implementation and reporting of veterinary researches without departing from ethical values and scientific facts,
  • to collaborate with researchers from different disciplines
