7.2. The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary

Education (EAEVE)

Evaluation processes of veterinary schools in Europe are carried out by the European Association of Establish-
ments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), which is the official accreditation authority of veterinary schools. When
EAEVE membership and accreditation processes are examined in Turkey, it is seen that 13 veterinary faculties that
are full or candidate members of EAEVE have started the accreditation process (Ankara University VF, Istanbul
University Cerrahpaşa VF, Fırat University VF, Uludağ University VF, Erciyes University VF, Selçuk University VF,
Kafkas University VF, Adnan Menderes University VF, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University VF, Atatürk University VF,
Afyon Kocatepe University VF, Harran University VF, Yüzüncü Yıl University VF). Today, it has been determined
that 3 of these faculties (Ankara University VF, Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa VF, Aydın Adnan Menderes Uni-
versity VF) can obtain approval status (EAEVE, 2021).
ERUVF became a member of EAEVE on 1 June 2004 and carried out its first audit between 26-30 November
2012. After the audit, 10 of the 25 criteria in force at that time were found to be insufficient. After the audit in
2018, it was found worthy of praise in 11 areas, especially anatomy and food applications, based on a total of
90 criteria. ERUVF curriculum; Examination Directive, Clinical Courses and Clinical Watch Practices, Clinical
Skills Laboratory Courses, Internship Training and Graduation Assignment Courses have been revised in line with
EAEVE directives, and evaluation principles have been prepared.. EAEVE inspection committee visited ERÜVF
between 20-22 September 2021 and reported that all missing criteria were completed in its preliminary evalua-
tion. As a result of this visit and report, it was announced that ERÜVF was accredited to EAEVE on 14.12.2021
(photo?), and ERÜVF became the second faculty accredited to EAEVE after Fırat University Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine.
